Moab to Hatch: Rock Art and a Dome Bedroom
Utah kept showing off today as we drove from Moab to Hatch, a tiny town just outside Bryce Canyon National Park.
We started the morning with coffee from Wicked Brew in Moab. My mom says it’s some of the best coffee she’s ever had, and it was exactly what we needed before another full day of exploring! ☕
Our first stop was the Potash Road Rock Art site, and it was one of my favorite stops of the whole trip. The petroglyphs are carved into the cliffs 20–30 feet above the ground. Some are Archaic rock art from about 6000 to 1000 BC, and others are Fremont rock art from around 450 to 1300 AD. Back when they were made, there was a slope of rock along the base of the cliff, so people could actually reach that high. Standing there and thinking about how old they are was amazing.
Along the way we also stopped at Black Dragon Rock, Ghost Rock, and Sunset View Overlook. Every turn brought another incredible view and another reason to pull over for pictures. 📸
We finally made it to our Airbnb in Hatch, and it is SO cute. We have an outdoor dome bedroom! It’s 58 degrees here, which feels heavenly after the Moab heat.
Tomorrow we explore Bryce Canyon!
