Mammoth Lakes: Mountains, Lakes, and Waterfalls
Today was one of those days that reminds you how incredible this country is. We started the morning at Minaret Vista, 9,265 feet up, and the views were breathtaking. The Sierra Nevada seemed to stretch on forever.
Next was Convict Lake, one of my favorite places. I was here last year doing environmental research with Brown, and I really wanted my mom to see it. The water is unbelievably clear and reflects the mountains like glass. It’s so peaceful, the kind of place you never want to leave.
From there we went to Devils Postpile. Seeing those perfectly formed basalt columns in person is hard to describe. Nature is honestly amazing.
Our last stop was Rainbow Falls, where the San Joaquin River drops 101 feet into the canyon below. The power of the falls was incredible, and it’s easy to see how it got its name. 🌈
Every day of this trip has been different, but Mammoth Lakes has a special place in my heart, and getting to share it with my mom made it even better.
Tomorrow we start the last leg of the drive to Berkeley. What an unforgettable adventure!
